Welcome to the homepage of Celtic Nation Kernow
Celtic Nation Kernow is here to continue the legacy of Celtic Congress Cornwall which has existed as a Celtic organisation for over one hundred years. Time and technology has moved forward in ways our forefathers would never have imagined and we are now able to interact worldwide through the power of the internet.
Celtic Nation Kernow as an integral and contemporary part of Celtic Congress Cornwall continues its aims and goals but in a way better suited to the 21st century.
Our aims are:
- Supporting Kernewek, the Cornish language,
- To encourage interest and participation in Cornish culture and heritage
- Promoting and sharing the enjoyment of Celtic arts
- Interacting with peoples from all the Celtic nations within the United Kingdom and Europe
- Supporting Cornish and wider Celtic identity
Our brand new website is just the start of the Celtic Nation Kernow journey. We hope to attract people who are interested in Celtic history and culture and for them to join us as members.
Membership is FREE and our launch of Celtic Nation Kernow marks the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Cornish people being acknowledged as a Celtic national minority of the United Kingdom under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities on 24th April 2014. This makes the Cornish equal to our Scottish, Welsh and Irish Celtic cousins, although still behind the curve in many respects. 2024 also marks the 120th anniversary of Cornwall being accepted as a Celtic nation, with its own Brythonic Celtic language.
Please sign up for membership there is no cost and we hope to share more of Cornish and other Celtic national histories and culture with you, together with events and activities as well as interaction with many other Celtic groups and people from the other nations.
